Saddle Up!

The Magalies valley is (arguably) one of the most beautiful locations within South Africa! Hear us out; imagine crossing a cool, crisp Magalies river on a frosty morning in early spring on the back of a beautiful Boerperd horse. Breathtaking.

Hollybrooke Adventure Farm’s horse riding trails are perfect for the family. Our trails march through farmlands and cattle pastures, idyllic woodlands and alongside the Magalies river. The horse riding trails are perfect for those individuals who are riding a horse for the first time, as well as those who have a little more experience in the saddle.

A dedicated and highly-experienced guide will provide a short training session and demonstration before you begin the horse riding trail. It is during this session that you will be provided with a tacked-up horse as well as a riding helmet. Please note that the largest group we can accommodate in a single ride is four individuals, due to the number of animals in our stable.

Magalies River Horse Riding Trails

  • Animals First

Our Boerperd purebred horses are exceptionally maintained. They live on a diet of high quality feed, are regularly groomed, and are never exerted. We believe in the mantra that ‘the animal comes first’.

  • An Hour In the saddle

Not surprisingly, this can be quite strenuous for some. Make sure that you are well stocked on water and sunscreen before setting out. Unfortunately, the horses cannot support riders over 100kgs in weight.

  • R500 per person

R500 is all that’s needed for a wonderful dose of natures best therapy: a horse ride. Book your horse trail online or via phone. Make sure that you meet us at the Hollybrooke Coffee Shoppe 10 minutes before schedule.

  • R500 per person

Includes a 1-hour trail with a trained groomsman. They will provide training as well as protective headgear.

  • R300 Per Person

Includes a 30-minute trail with a trained groomsman. They will provide training as well as protective headgear.

  • R150 Per Child (under 16)

Includes a 20-minute farm ride. Protective headgear provided. Groomsman leads the horse. Children can go on the longer trails too, but normal prices apply.
